About the project
In October, on Zanzibar in Tanzania, we conducted a pilot with drones that sprayed biological insecticides in rice fields. We aim to demonstrate that the emerging mosquito population can be significantly reduced in this way. We sample the larval and emerging mosquito population before, during and after spraying to determine the possible impact of this approach in (large) rice irrigation schemes that are found throughout Africa.
After the trial, we intend to publish the findings in a scientific journal and also disseminate the results through social media channels.
